Coal Center man killed in Washington County crash

A Coal Center man was killed this morning when the vehicle he was driving struck a tree in Chartiers Township, Washington County.

Coroner Timothy Warco said John F. Duda, 67, died following the crash at 5:25 a.m. on Western Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m.

According to officials, Duda was traveling north in his Ford sport utility vehicle about ½ mile north of Ullom Road when he lost control of the SUV and struck a tree.

Volunteer firefighters from Chartiers Township and Houston joined emergency personnel from Canonsburg Ambulance at the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by Chartiers Township police.
