Brownsville police said they are investigating after a Fayette County man was assaulted and robbed in Brownsville on Monday.

Officers said they were dispatched at 10:10 p.m. to a location on High Street for a report of a man bleeding from the head.

Police said they found Mark Veatch, 40, suffering head injuries. Officers said he was conscious but confused and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

According to investigators, Veatch told police that he was robbed by unknown assailants and that he was struck in the head during the robbery, resulting in four lacerations to his head and face.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
