Leisenring man dies after catching on fire
Fayette County Coroner’s office reports that a Leisenring man died Thursday after he accidentally caught on fire.
Fayette County 911 said the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Highland Street in Dunbar Township.
The incident’s details are under investigation by state police.
Fayette County Coroner Dr. Phillip Reilly said the man was connected to an oxygen apparatus that was sparked as he was filling a cigarette lighter. He said a flash burn injured the man’s face and upper body.
Reilly said though the oxygen apparatus was present, there was no explosion or house fire.
Reilly said the man, who was in his early 60s, was conscious for a short time after the incident, but he died soon afterward. The man’s name has not been released to the media.
Reilly said the man was pronounced dead at the scene by Fayette County Deputy Coroner John Kondrla.
