Wilma P. Trimble from Hopwood, Pa. was welcomed to her heavenly h o m e o n Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the age of 83 years.
Wilma was born on February 20, 1929. She was active in United Methodist Church and Jumonville United Methodist Training Center from a young age. Wilma earned her Masters of Fine Art at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Melon). She married Rev. William ‘Bill’ K Parrish in Pittsburgh, Pa in 1952 and after the birth of their daughter Virginia ‘Ginnie’, Bill’s career took them to churches in western Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Wilma served as an elementary school art teacher and a Christian Education Director; she was also active alongside Bill in the United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, organizing events, teaching Sunday school, but especially in making church sanc-tuaries beautiful with her inspirational banners.
Her banners were not only featured at the Wisconsin United Methodist church annual conferences for over a decade, but her liturgical art pieces have also been used as book covers, stained glass windows, and have been featured in numerous churches, libraries and colleges across the country. Her banners were artistic gifts, a representation of her faith in the Lord, which she so generously shared with thousands of people throughout her lifetime.
After the death of her husband Bill in 1988, she moved from Milwaukee, Wis. to Hopwood, Pa.where she not only continued with her artwork, but was active at Jumonville, Mt. Lebanon United Methodist church in Pittsburgh, PA and later Asbury United Methodist in Uniontown, Pa. In August 1994 she married Richard ‘Rich’ C. Trimble, where they enjoyed their mountain paradise together with their dogs for the past 18 years. Wilma enjoyed being on the mountain and loved sharing it with her friends and family.
She is now with those she loved who passed before her including her parents William and Ella MacKay, her sister Virginia’Ginger’ MacKay (Kelly), her first husband Rev. William K. Parrish and her second husband Richard C. Trimble.
