Edward Tunney

Edward Tunney, 86, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Southwestern Veteran’s Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.  He was born July 15, 1926 in Clarksville, Pa., the son of Clifford and Mabel (McCleary) Tunney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Tunney; second wife, Susan Tunney; two sisters, Muriel (Tunney) Nickalo and Ruth (Tunney) Jones; five brothers, Earl, Clifford, Gene, Melvin, Glenn and Norman Lee Tunney and daughter-in-law, Barbara Tunney.

Ed was a member of the United States Navy. After that, he worked for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in Allenport as a pipefitter and then eventually worked his way into management.

He enjoyed hunting, campfires and just being outdoors. Ed also belonged to the Elks in Brownsville, the Nixon Gun Club, Charleroi Archery Club and the First United Methodist Church in Brownsville,

He is survived by his son, John Tunney, Stockdale, Pa.; daughter, Linda Rawlins and husband, Harvey, Johnstown, Pa.; four grandchildren, Jane Tunney, Jennifer Ferrence and husband, Matthew, Kathy Rentz and husband, Daniel, and Jill Benson and husband, Steven; one great-grandson,Jozef Ferrence; sister, Kathleen (Beck) Holzapfel; two brothers, Walter Tunney and Ray Tunney and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME , 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pa. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, January 11, 2013 until 11:00 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. David Chin officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park in Brier Hill, Pa.
