Suspected armed robber nabbed in Brownsville
Brownsville police charged an Adah man suspected of robbing Fox’s Pizza Den in Brownsville at gunpoint Thursday evening.
Jerry Eugene Booker II, 30, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats for allegedly going into the business on Market Street around 8 p.m., wielding a gun and demanding money, police alleged.
After stealing an undetermined amount of cash from the restaurant, police said Booker fled the business on foot.
Officers said they were able to quickly identify Booker, known as “Oats,” as a suspect in the hold-up, and began canvassing the area for him.
Officers found him on Baltimore Street and took Booker into custody without incident, police said.
Investigators said they found the money that Booker had stolen from the business and took the cash into evidence, along with other items.
Police said that during questioning, Booker admitted to robbing the restaurant.
Booker was placed in Fayette County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.
He will face a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Jan. 21 before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
