Uniontown man waives most charges in crash

A Uniontown man who police allege crashed his car into a vehicle in Uniontown in September and then fled the scene without rendering aid waived most charges against him to court today.

Uniontown police Officer Kurtis Defoor said Vaughn Maurice Gaines II, 21, of Uniontown was charged with aggravated assault with a vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, accidents involving personal injury, two counts of drunken driving, accidents involving damage to property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gaines waived most of the charges against him to Fayette County Court during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros.
