Bernard L. Slominsky
Bernard L. Slominsky, age 86, of Connellsville, Pa., died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Sunshine Estate, Dunbar Township, Pa.
He was born on Friday, August 27, 1926 in Trotter, Fayette County, Pa., the son of Stanley Slominsky and Agnes (Kapella) Slominsky.
He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville and is a current member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and The Polish Club both in Connellsville.
Bernard graduated from German Township High School, Class of 1944, in McClellandtown.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, he worked as a Tow Motor Operator at the now former Anchor Hocking Glass Plant in South Connellsville, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Joan (Zeka) Slominsky in 2000; four brothers, Edmund, Richard, Carl, Joseph; and two sisters, Antoinette and Marianne.
He is survived by his daughters: Michele Ruth and companion Dave Mongell of Connellsville, Pa., and Stephanie King and husband Raymond of Vanderbilt, Pa.; one granddaughter, Annie King of Vanderbilt, Pa.; a brother, Daniel Slominsky of Louisiana; and also several nieces and nephews.
Private family viewing will be held in PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., Dennis N. Heath Jr., Supervisor, 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, Pa., where Prayers of Transfer will be said Monday, June 3, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 908 West Crawford Avenue, Connellsville, with Rev. Father Robert T. Lubic as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery Connellsville, with Full Military Rites accorded at graveside by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 21 and the American Legion Posts 301 and 762.
