Penn State Fayette interim chancellor looks forward to new position
The new interim chancellor of Penn State Fayette said she hopes to be a “stabilizing force” in her role until permanent leadership is found.
“I hope to advocate for the campus both within the university and within the community,” said Dr. Arlene Hall, who was named interim chancellor of the campus effective Aug. 1.
Hall’s appointment comes following the announcement that the campus’s current chancellor, Dr. Francis Achampong, will transition to the same role at Penn State Mont Alto.
Hall formerly served as director emerita of academic affairs and associate professor of kinesiology at Penn State New Kensington, where she served 36 years before her recent retirement.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Fayette campus,” Hall said.
“Since I know some of the folks there, it is a stable campus, they have great faculty, their students are tremendous and involved and it is a campus that I believe is deeply embedded in the community.”
Hall has a background in leadership, curriculum and program planning, faculty development and strategic planning at both campus and college levels.
She was also the recipient of a Faculty Achievement Award by the College of Health and Human Development and was twice- honored as women’s volleyball coach of the year by both the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference and the Commonwealth College Athletic Conference.
“I have known Arlene for over a decade. She was a great colleague when we both served as chief academic officers for our respective campuses,” said Achampong. “I am sure she will work well with faculty, staff, students and the broader community to keep Penn State Fayette moving forward.”
