A.J. Cunningham
A.J. Cunningham, age 61, of Gibbons Glade, Pa., died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Meadowcrest Nursing Center in Bethel Park, Pa. from complications of Legionnaires’ disease.
He is survived by his loving girlfriend and companion of nine years, Elaine Susano; his beloved daughters, Brynn (Eric Harder) and Tara Cunningham; sister, Rita (Bob Lukas); niece and nephew, Jeff (Annie) and Lee Lukas; aunts, Rose Leonard, Sondra Cesarino, Sara Orr, Janet Stoffegen, Ruthanne (Loren) Phillips and numerous cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his loving grandmother, Mildred Cesarino; grandparents, Joseph Cesarino, M. Ross Cunningham and Helen Cunningham Whaley; Roy D. Cunningham; uncles, Joseph, Jim, and Lou Cesarino, Elwood Leonard, Jack and Warren Cunningham, Bart Wood, Paul Keidel and Harry Aurouze; aunts, Sonia Cesarino, Eleanor Aurouze and Ruth Hyre and cousins, Mike and Joe Cesarino and Debbie Inks.
A member of the Uniontown Red Raiders basketball, football and track teams, A.J. remained an avid basketball fan throughout his life. His greatest joys included white-water rafting, deer hunting and fishing. Above all, he was most proud of his daughters and their accomplishments.
There will be no visitation and funeral services will be private. Professional services are entrusted to the care of the THOMAS H. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, LTD.
Elaine, Brynn, Tara and Rita wish to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Meadowcrest Nursing Center for their kind and compassionate care of A.J. during the last month of his life, to the staff of the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital’s 7th Floor South Tower for their care and support during his illness and to those who visited him and supported his family during this difficult time. If love could have sustained him, he would still be with us.
