Sewerage authority receives $15,000 from Bullskin Township supervisors
BULLSKIN TWP. — The Bullskin Township/Connellsville Township Joint Sewerage Authority will use $15,000 it received from the Bullskin Township supervisors toward sewer line repairs in Merit Manor.
The authority on Monday learned of the funding that is part of Marcellus shale impact fee proceeds allocated to the township by the state.
Work is set to get under way in Merit Manor in Bullskin Township to correct a problem with additional water flow in the authority’s sanitary system caused by infiltration.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to focus on getting the water out of there,” said authority chairman Pat Stefano.
Alex Pounds of Widmer Engineering Inc. of Connellsville, the authority’s engineer, said the project has an $18,000 budget.
Pounds added the project will also tie in with larger repairs needed in the same area that is part of the second phase.
In another matter, the authority adopted a resolution to increase its dye-testing fee based on property transfers.
According to the amended rules and regulations, the authority will impose a fee schedule of $550 for emergency dye testing within 48 hours of transfer, $250 for three to 14 days of transfer and $55 for at least two weeks notice of transfer.
If the property owner fails to have the test completed before the property is sold, the buyer will incur the fee.
Turning to other business, the authority learned from office manager Julie Paull the authority billed 928 customers in May at $42,827 and received $42,912 in payments.
Paull added that 16 delinquencies were due Tuesday at $2,113, while the authority posted three shut-offs at $552.
