Tribute paid to workers behind the scenes
Those who know me best can attest to my eclectic tastes in music, those who know me even better will tell you I love the music of Jackson Browne. As I started writing my column today “The Load Out, “a 1977 tribute to concert roadies came on my radio and made think perhaps it was time to talk about some of the people behind the scenes at Fayette TV.
It is likely you have come to recognize Dave Slusarick, Chef Mario, Jack Evans, Mark O’Keefe or myself from our on-air work but chances are you know little about the people behind our cameras.
Many members of our crew are volunteers, some part time paid and even several interns. Over the years we have forged a great relationship with Albert Gallatin High School and their students work around the studio on shows like “Going Live,” parades and special events.
Our student team from AGTV this year consisted of: Chris Lytle (camera), Shane Dukman (camera/audio), Cody Grimm (camera), Chuckie Morrow (camera), Mattison Johnson (audio), Brett McCourt (camera), Emily Dillinger (director), Allysia Dillow (audio), and George Hammond (director).
Behind the cameras for the PIC Connection you will find a bearded man with a big smile and a heart of gold – Harry Metz. Scary Harry, as his friends call him, is an employee of the Private Industry Council but also helps us out on other programming at the studio.
On Sunday’s you may enjoy our classic films, which may seem like effortless presentations but know that there is work in converting those films, ensuring there is no copyright infringement and getting them ready to air – D. Eric Nuttall does that work.
In addition to the technical hands we have around the station we also have administrative assistance from our advisory board and also Deb, Kathy and Muriel of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce staff.
These are just some of the people who “roll them cases and lift them amps” and without them community TV would not be possible.
