Joan was taken by the hand of Jesus and led to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 15, 2013, surrounded by her children, after fighting a long and tiring battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born October 26, 1931 in Marianna, Pennsylvania the first born of Stella Marie (Frameli) Stoskel and Peter Paul Stoskel.

She lived most of her life in Marianna until moving with her daughter in 1992 to Houston, Pennsylvania.

Joan graduated from West Beth High School where she was a cheerleader. This was a story shared many times by her and her grand daughter Joanna, who was also a cheerleader.

On March 4, 1949, she married the love of her life, Clement F. Allen Sr.

Together they raised their five children: Kathleen M. Allen (with whom she made her home) of Houston, Pa., Judith A. Penn (Dave) of Taylorstown, Pa., Clemmy Allen of Washington, Pa., Stella Diane Allen of Houston, Pa., and George Michael, the baby, (Georgeanna) of Waynesburg, Pa.

Joan loved to bake, raise roses and to bowl.

She was a loving mother, wife, sister and will be forever missed.

Joan is also survived by five grandchildren: David H. Penn of Pittsburgh Pa., Thomas W. Matiyasic of Canonsburg, Pa., Cara L. Nadberazny (Joe) of Washington, Pa., Michael F. Allen (Lisa) of Fredericktown, Pa., and Joanna Marie Allen of Waynesburg, Pa.; her sisters: Clara Miller (Chuck) of Marianna, Pa. Lucille Kovacich (Frank) of Deemston Boro, Pa., and Marlene Coughenour (Frank), Washington, Pa; brother, George Stoskel (Ruth), Washington, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Candy Allen of Washington, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Marva Andrevich of Marianna.

Joan was able to welcome her first great grandchild, Rosaleigh Nadberazny, in February 2013.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Dorothy Mancini; and three nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the NICHOL FUNERAL HOME, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301 (724.228.3011).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. in Sts. MARY AND ANN ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, Saint Oliver Plunkett Parish, Marianna, with Reverend Father Paul J. Grunebach as Celebrant.

Burial will follow in Horn Cemetery, Marianna, Pa.

Joan loved her family, baking, decorating cakes, and gardening, all of which she could no longer remember.
