Ruth Rachel Smith Showman
The gates of heaven received a new angel, Ruth Rachel (Smith) Showman, age 91, of Vanderbilt, Pa., on Friday, June 14, 2013.
She passed away surrounded by her loving family at the Mon Valley Hospital.
She was born on August 1, 1921 in Venango County, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph Smith and Rachel (Lewis) Smith.
Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Connellsville, Pa.
Ruth was the wife of the now late Archal R. Showman.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Dean and Josephine Sacchini; and by one brother, Niles.
She is survived by two children: Janice Critchfield and Brian Showman and his wife Kelly. Ruth is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Jean Volz and Fred Keidaish; a sister-in-law, Lorella Showman; and one brother-in-law, Marlin Showman. Her grandchildren include Shelly Bertocci and her husband Cliff, Lori Jacobs and John Russell, Danielle Brown, Brian Showman Jr. and his wife Rachel, Robert Showman and his wife Reagan. Ruth was also blessed with five great grandchildren: Keana and Chaise Bertocci, Caitlin Jacobs and Abby and Chris Showman; three nieces: Colleen Dubois, Marlene Metz and Beverly Plunkett; and three nephews: Dale Dean, Larry Volz and Bernard Showman.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville, where Services will be held Wednesday, June 19 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Will Hough officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery.
