Joseph H. DiMatteo, age 84, 39-year resident of Sierra Vista, Arizona passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at home with his family by his side.

Joe was born on Tuesday, July 24, 1928 in Collier, Pennsylvania to Angelo and Annabelle (Matthews) DiMatteo.

Joe served his country in the Army for over 25 years and retired with the rank of CW4. He proudly served in World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal. He served two tours in Vietnam and received the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He received numerous awards during his long and distinguished career, including the Meritorious Service Medal.

After retiring from the Army, he worked in Logistics for many years on Fort Huachuca. His interest was focused on all things political.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed the game of golf.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marie (Lansperger) DiMatteo: his children: Elizabeth Maslowski, Joseph (Rita) DiMatteo Jr., Anthony (Sherrie) DiMatteo; grandchildren: Tiffany Maslowski-Orellana, Adriana and Andrew DiMatteo. His pride and joy was his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Orellana.

Graveside Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Post Cemetery, Fort Huachuca, with Full Military Honors.

The family asks that donations be made to a Veterans group of choice.
