Edna Knight Marker
Edna Knight Marker, age 87, of Blairsville, Pa., and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born May 10, 1926 in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of William A. Knight and Ina M. Harmon Knight.
In addition to her parents, Edna is preceded in death by two brothers, Harmon A. Knight and Dale W. Knight and a sister, Mildred K. Sheering.
Edna graduated from South Union High School with the Class of 1944. She worked as a banker for Gallatin Bank for over 28 years before retirement and was responsible for starting the Gallatin Bank Retirees’ Reunion that is held every year.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church for over fifty-four years and served as a missionary, in the chancel choir, Mary Beth Circle, as church council secretary and as the United Methodist Women’s past-secretary.
Edna also served as a past Worthy Matron of Uniontown Chapter 263 of the Order of the Eastern Star, past district deputy of District 8 and a member and past Watchman of the Shepherds of the Margaret Caven Chapter 42 of the White Shrine.
Edna also acted as chairman of many South Union Class of 1944 reunions.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol Pike and husband, James, of Blairsville, Pa.; two sons, David Marker and wife, Anita, of New Galilee, Pa. and L. Duane Marker and wife, Barbara, of Coral Springs, Fla.; five grandsons, James Pike Jr. and wife, Michelle, Jonathan Pike and Mary Ann Lamantia, Jeffrey Pike and Cheyenna Deal, Michael Marker and Eric Marker and fiancee, Jackie McConaughy; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, Pa. where family and friends may call on Wednesday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.
Visitation will continue Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 10 until 11 a.m. in the ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Uniontown, Pa. A service celebrating Edna’s life will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Kephart officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.
