Eugene M. ‘Gene’ Weinberger
Eugene M. “Gene” Weinberger, age 75, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Sunday evening, June 23, 2013 in the Uniontown Hospital.
He was born November 14, 1937 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of the late Eugene Weinberger and Lydia Jobes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving son, William “Bill” Gene Weinberger; brother, Alan Weinberger and sister, Linda Cooke.
Gene was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a 1955 graduate of Uniontown Area High School and attended Penn State.
He worked for Rockwell International for 30 years. He then started his own business, BK2 Instruments, and ran it for 22 years. During his years at Rockwell, he received the Engineer of the Year Award for the creation and design of new products. He had numerous patents.
Gene was actively involved in his children and grandchildren’s activities traveling through the country to various events. He was the former treasure of the Laurel Highlands Band. He was well known in the community as a women’s fastball softball coach. He coached softball for the Summer League and three times took the “Fillies” to the State Championship game and in 1982 won the PA State Championship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine Badger Weinberger; loving children: Terry Horst and husband, Galen, of Waynesburg, Pa., Wendy Matthews of Uniontown and Doreen Seamon and husband, Dennis, of Morgantown, WV; loving grandchildren: Caleb, Sarah, MaKayla, Joshua and Josiah Horst, Eric, Ryan and Chad Matthews, Zachary, Kara and Cassidy Seamon, William Carl Weinberger and wife, Kathryn, and Kaitlyn Weinberger, a great-granddaughter, Grace Noelle and Bill’s previous wife, Cindy.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue Uniontown PA on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at ST. PAUL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Anderson officiating. NOTE: Please go directly to the church on Friday.
Interment follows in Mt. Macrina Cemetery.
