Cumberland to hold hearing on block grant
The Cumberland Township Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing Monday to get input from residents that will help the township develop its proposal for the 2013 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The hearing will take place immediately following the regularly scheduled supervisors’ meeting, which will begin at 4 p.m. at the Cumberland Township Municipal Building, located at 100 Municipal Road.
The township said funds can be spent on activities listed in the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.
That includes public facilities improvements, infrastructure, housing, recreation facilities, street and road improvements, historic preservation, planning activities and clearance, among others.
This year’s allocation is about $99,500.
During the hearing, residents may comment on the township’s prior use of CDBG funds.
The township said the main national objective of the CDBG funding is to benefit low- and moderate-income people. Portions of the funding also can be used for blight removal or because of an urgent need.
The municipal building is accessible to people with physical disabilities. Special accommodations can be requested by calling 724-966-5805.
