Kathryn Marie Chess
Kathryn Marie Chess, 91 of Smithfield, Pa. died Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
She was born December 25, 1921 in Smithfield, Pa., the daughter of Louis and Kathryn (Schillenberger) French.
Her parents; son, Larry Chess; siblings: Elsie Matz, Joe French, Frank French, Marge Hearn, Harry “Herb” French and Louise Emerick; sisters-in-law,Olive French and Ruth French; brothers-in-law,Ray Hearn and Ken Emerick are predeceased.
Surviving are her loving family, her husband of 70 years, Raymond Chess; three sons: Ray Chess and wife Nan, Smithfield, Pa., Robert Chess and wife Debbie, Smithfield, Pa. and Dan Chess and wife Susan, Uniontown, Pa.; ten grandchildren:Lisa, Bart, Meagan, Paul, Craig, Kami, Todd, Robert Jr., Amy and Jason; seven great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Chess; brother, Lloyd French and wife Elizabeth and sister-in-law, Alice French.
Kathryn worked side by side with her husband at Chess Coal Company until her retirement at age 88 years.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fair-chance, Pa. on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 29, 2013 until 10:00 a.m. the hour of service.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Marcy Goisse, Michelle Grimm and all the staff at Horizon Personal Care Home, the wonderful caregivers from Twin Oaks Home Care, the Amedysis Hospice Team and the friendship of her dear friend, Kay Victor.
