Teresa C. Pessamato, of Connellsville, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013.

She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Giuliano and Madeline (Petrilli) Mannella.

She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Connellsville.

Teresa earned her Bachelor and Master of Education Degrees from Duquesne University. After graduation she taught in the Pittsburgh and Plum Borough School Districts.

At a later date, because of her husband’s employment, she transferred and the family moved to Fayette County. She taught as a substitute teacher in the Connellsville Area School District and after her children were grown, accepted full time employment. She was assigned to Dunbar Borough Elementary School.

Each morning before class, along with other teachers, she participated in a private morning prayer group. Many special intention prayers were answered. She put her heart into teaching, loved the children she taught and loved her fellow teachers. She was always concerned for underprivileged children and contributed to related charities.

She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Teresa loved God, family and close friends. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to spend time with her family, especially around the holidays. She was very warm, generous and caring to all who ever encountered her.

Teresa is survived by her loving husband, John Pessamato, Jr.; sons, John Pessamato III and Robert Pessamato (Anna Mercer) of Pittsburgh. Teresa is also survived by a very close brother, Julian Mannella (Kathryn Miele) of Mount Pleasant; aunts, Anna and Rosemary Petrilli of Pittsburgh; nieces: Juliann Damico (Brian) of Irwin, Janice and Denise Pessamato of Florida; nephews: Dr. Joseph Mannella, M.D. (Angela) of Ohio, James Li Volsi (Anita) of Florida, Ronald and David Pessamato of South Carolina and many wonderful cousins. Teresa was the sister-in-law of the late Millie Li Volsi (Joe) of Pittsburgh and Anthony Ross (Gloria) of Erie.

The family extends appreciation to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at UPMC Hillman and Uniontown Cancer Centers, the Uniontown Hospital and Fayette Medical Care. A very special thanks and appreciation to all the people who prayed for her during this difficult time. Your prayers gave her strength and extended life.
