Clarence N. ‘Newt’ McCracken, Jr.

Clarence N. ‘Newt; McCracken, Jr. 86, of Vanderbilt, Pa. died Monday June 24, 2013 in the Henry Clay Villa Markleysburg. He was born June 3, 1927 in Dickerson Run, a son of the late Clarence N., Sr. and Nellie McCracken.

‘Newt’ was retired from the PL&E Railroad where he was employed for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a Life Member of the DL&V Volunteer Fire Department and the Fayette County Fireman’s Association and he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Vanderbilt where he served as an elder.

‘Newt’ is survived by one sister Geraldine of Little Brownfield; a special niece, Ellen Jean Borris and her husband Jim of Farmington and several others nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews including Shirley Franks and her husband Harry and Kitty Dennis and her husband Harry.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Garnett Keller McCrack-en, two brothers, Harrison and John McCracken and three sisters: Margaret Hawk, Lillian Hone and Mae.

Services will be held on Friday in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville at 1:00 p.m. with Elder Richard Lowther officiating.
