Christine F. “Chris” (Cavalier) Wagner, 59, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 1, 2013 while in Mount Saint Macrina, Uniontown, Pa.

She was born June 10, 1953 in Connellsville, Pa., the daughter of John Cavalier and Patricia (Hyatt) Cavalier.

‘Chris’ was an active member of the Saint Rita Roman Catholic Church and their Christian Mothers.

She was a 1971 graduate of Geibel Catholic High School.

Focusing on a career in business, Chris attended and graduated from the Business Careers Institute in Greensburg.

Following graduation, Chris became Traffic Director for WCVI Radio where was in charge of organizing programs and advertising.

Chris’ love for dancing led her to opening the Chris Wagner School of Dance where she was Owner/Teacher.

In 1993, Chris became Executive Director of the Greater Connellsville Chamber of Commerce. Chris held this position until 1997, at which time she accepted the position of Executive Director for the State Theatre Centre for the Arts in Uniontown and served as Executive Director for eight years.

In 2004, Chris decided to return to the Greater Connellsville Chamber of Commerce and reassumed her position as Executive Director until 2006.

Chris served a four year term on the Connellsville’s City Council from 2002-2006.

She previously served on the Board of Directors for both the Miss Fayette County and the Miss America pageants, served as Social Sorority President (two years) and Secretary (two years) of Beta Sigma Phi, Beta Nu Chapter, was a Brownie Troop Leader, an active member of the Connellsville Hospital Club, and Chairperson of the Zachariah Connell 200th Anniversary Celebration Parade as well as numerous other parades and celebrations within the city she loved.

Her smile and laughter were infectious and her death leaves emptiness in the hearts of all of those who knew her.

Chris is survived by her parents; her loving husband of 30 years, President Judge John F. Wagner Jr.; three caring daughters: Diana and husband Jesse Lowry of Connellsville, Katherine McCombie, Connellsville and Courtney A. Wagner of Connellsville who is currently residing in Boston, Massachusetts; a devoted son, John F. Wagner III, Connellsville four sisters: Angela and husband Dr. Gary Batok of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Michelle and husband Richard Stebell of Erie, Pa., Melissa and husband Robert Topper of Connellsville, Jacqueline Cavalier and Jason Kendell of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother, John Cavalier of Irwin, Pa.; grandchildren: Joelle DeLucia, Logan Lowry, William McCombie Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 South First Street, West Side, Connellsville, PA 15425 (724.628.9033) today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, at 10:45 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Saint Rita Roman Catholic Church, 116 South Second Street, West Side, Connellsville, with Msgr. J. Edward McCullough as Celebrant

Interment will follow in Saint Rita Cemetery.

Visitation was also held on Monday, March 4, from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations should be made to Yough River Trail Council, The State Theatre Centre for the Arts, or Mount Macrina Manor.
