Abraham Edward Fotta
Abraham Edward Fotta age 89 of Lemont Furnace, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday. March 13, 2013. He was born on Tuesday, February 12, 1924 in Clarksburg, Pa., to William and Mary (Simchek) Fotta, who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Frances Virginia (Turner) Fotta, brothers: William, James and Bob Fotta and a sister, Eleanor Fotta.
Abraham was a graduate of North Union High School, and attended Cove Run Free Methodist Church. He served his country during WWII with the 2525th Army Air Force Unit at the rank of Staff Sergeant, in the European- African -Middle Eastern Theater of Operations.
He retired from Maple Creek Mine, U.S. Steel Corp., where he was a Motorman and was a member of UMWA District 2.
Abraham’s greatest joy in life was his family. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sharon Anderson and husband Jerry of Hopwood, Ed Fotta and wife Joyce, Mary Ohler Stockton and husband Pete, and Abe Fotta and wife Jan, all of Lemont Furnace; grandchildren: Shelley Madison and Carl Stockton, John Provance and wife Michele, Selena Yauger and husband Devon, Ed Fotta and wife Lacie, Jackie Denney, April Serock and husband Gary, and Rhonda Gottlieb and friend Mandy; great grandchildren: Mallory, Mindy, Mariah; Jesse, McKenzie, Samantha, Sharon, Jerry, Cody, Dillon, Julie, Kevin, Kellie Jo, and Alec; great great grandchildren: Logan, Briley, and Brecken; a sister, Agnes Fotta of Charlottesville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday, March 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.; and on Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the Hour of Service, with Pastor Paul Eckenrode Officiating.
Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 423 and North Union VFW Post 8543.
