Emergency personnel rush to transport an unidentified resident from Marshall Manor Thursday evening as fire crews worked to extinguish a fire that broke out on the seventh floor. Several residents were transported to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Legions of firefighters battled smoke and flames Thursday on the seventh floor as residents were being evacuated from Marshall Manor in Uniontown.

Uniontown fire Chief Charles Coldren said no one was hurt, but he couldn’t say how many residents were being treated for smoke inhalation. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Coldren said when fire officials had a chance to determine the extent of the damage, an assessment would be made as to whether the residents would be able to return to their homes.
