Uniontown man suffers gunshot wound to leg

1 min read

Uniontown police are investigating after a Uniontown man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg early today.

Chief Jason A. Cox said officers were on routine patrol around 1:30 a.m. when they noticed 30 to 40 people running to their vehicles from the area of Esther’s bar.

As police pulled up, they noticed a commotion around one vehicle in particular and when they stopped the car on Carlisle Street they found the passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Richard Hinton, slumped over and suffering a gunshot wound.

Uniontown Firemen’s Ambulance was called to the scene and took Hinton, 23, to Uniontown Hospital for treatment. An update on his condition was not available.

Cox said that police conducted numerous interviews at the scene but received little information as a result.

He said that Hinton also provided police with few details.

Cox said the shooting remains under investigation.
