Marshall nominated for Luzerne Twp. supervisor seat

1 min read

Luzerne Township Supervisor John Marshall on Tuesday unofficially won the Democratic nomination for a second six-year term.

No Republicans sought the office.

According to unofficial tallies, Marshall garnered 448 votes. Challenging him were newcomers David “Bud” Miller, who received 329 votes, and Terry Lent, who had 120 votes.

Marshall said he is “passionate” about development around the Mon/Fayette Expressway and wants to provide more opportunities for young people so they remain in the area. Prior to serving as supervisor, Marshall worked on the township’s maintenance crew.

Miller has worked with the township since 1995 and is a state inspection mechanic and a heavy equipment operator. In addition, he runs his own mechanic shop out of his home.

Lent has a degree in specialized technology from Triangle Tech in Greensburg and has worked in the heating and air-conditioning business.
