That tax collector position became available when Joanne Kushnar resigned from the post because she was charged with theft for alleged stealing money she collected.
That case has yet to be resolved.
Democratic incumbent James M. Mari of Oliver secured his party’s nomination in North Union Township with 1,020 votes, nearly twice what Larry Zebley of Uniontown earned with 507 votes.
Facing off in Perryopolis were Democrats Gina E. Dreucci, Adona Martini, Ruth Shields, all of Perryopolis.
Dreucci won the nomination with 176 votes. Martini came in second with 92 and Shields received 68 votes. Irene E. Smith currently holds that post.
In South Union Township, Democrat Thomas Vernon of Uniontown garnered 1072 votes, defeating Danny David Sr. of Uniontown, who had 543 votes. Gretchen Ciaramella currently holds the position.
All of the results are unofficial until the election bureau certifies them, which includes counting absentee ballots.
