Assistance with state forms available

2 min read

HARRISBURG — State Rep. Peter J. Daley II, D-California, is reminding residents that free help with state programs and applications will be available in December.

The schedule for area office hours is: 9:30-11 a.m. Dec. 6, Menallen Township Building, 427 Searights-Herbert Road; and 9-11 a.m. Dec. 12, Center on the Hill, 100 Summit Road, Belle Vernon.

A member of Daley’s office staff attends each outreach session to provide assistance, and no appointments are necessary.

“December is a crucial month for a number of programs, both state and federal,” said Daley, noting that said Dec. 7 is the deadline to change Medicare health plans and prescription drug coverage for 2014.

“If you are satisfied with your current Medicare plan, you don’t need to do anything,” Daley said. “While Medicare is a federal program, my staff can help constituents filling out forms for PACE or PACENET, the state’s prescription-drug assistance programs for senior citizens.”

Daley said Dec. 31 is the deadline for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.

“Qualified homeowners and tenants have until the end of the month to apply for rebates of up to $975 for some of the property taxes or rent paid in 2012,” Daley said. Pennsylvania’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program — LIHEAP — also is accepting applications now, so please consider putting a visit to one of our outreaches on your holiday list of things to do.”

Daley’s offices also are available Monday through Friday to assist constituents although his offices will be closed Thursday and Friday in observation of Hanukkah and Thanksgiving.

More information is available by calling Daley’s Donora office toll-free at 1-800-467-9486.
