Aviation expert to speak

MASONTOWN — Aviation author and researcher Craig “Buzz” Conroy will present “Amazing Black Boxes”, the story of why planes crash or arrive safely, to the Valley Lodge 459 F&AM at 8 p.m. today.

The event will take place at the lodge located at 25 N. Main St. in Masontown. The presentation is open to the public.

“Amazing Black Boxes” is story of those fascinating machines that reveal why a plane arrives safely or crashes.

Conroy is the author of “Effective Aviation Crisis Management,” a manual used by 37 airlines. He has provided expert testimony to Congress and serves as resident expert for Fox News and two other networks.

On Sept. 11, 2001, Conroy was in Shanksville, Somerset County, after a jetliner commandeered by terrorists crashed. His recollections of that day will be part of the permanent Flight 93 Memorial at the site.
