FEMA offers help for Fayette County flooding
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to Fayette and other counties to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding during the period of June 26 to July 11, 2013.
The president’s action makes federal funding available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding in Fayette, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Crawford, Huntingdon, Jefferson, Lawrence, Venango, and Wayne counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for all counties in the state.
Donald L. Keldsen has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Keldsen said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the commonwealth and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
