Charges pending in familial marijuana dispute
Uniontown police said charges are pending against a man, woman and 14-year-old boy after they were involved in an altercation over marijuana plants at their city home Monday evening.
Officer Michael Bittner said police were summoned to a home on Coolspring Street for a report that the boy had struck his mother in the face with a stick during an argument.
Once officers arrived, Bittner said it was determined that the fight had started over a marijuana plant that the child and his father were cultivating together in a planter in the kitchen.
Bittner said the teen admitted that he was upset because his mother had removed the plant from the planter and struck her in the head with a wooden dowel-rod.
Police then discovered the plant inside a plastic bag inside the woman’s purse.
Police said as they searched the residence, they also found a marijuana grinder and a marijuana cigarette inside the home.
All three face charges, including possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
Bittner said the charges remain pending test results on the suspected marijuana.
He noted that if charges are warranted, the teen will be charged in Fayette County Juvenile Court.
The names of the suspects are being withheld pending the formalization of charges.
