Prizes being offered in Uniontown Halloween parade

By Christine Haines chaines@heraldstandard.Com 2 min read

Participants in this year’s Halloween parade in Uniontown may be in for a monetary treat.

Prizes in the Oct. 30 parade are being offered for marching bands with more than 50 members and bands with less than 50 members. The first-place band in each category will receive $150, with prizes of $125 for second place and $100 for third place.

Groups, including organizations such as Scouts, dance schools and sports teams are eligible for prizes of $100, $50 and $25. Prizes will also be given out for the best floats, with prizes of $100, $50 and $25. Individual participants from birth to age 18 who get a judging number in advance at the chamber office or during the parade lineup from a parade volunteer, are also eligible for prizes. The top 10 participants will receive $25. The winners may pick up their prizes immediately following the parade in the parking lot of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce next to Sew Special on West Main Street, or the following day at the chamber office at 65 West Main St.

All winners will be posted on the chamber’s windows following the parade, as well as on Facebook the following day.

There is a new parade route this year, following the same route used for the Americanism Day parade earlier this year. Groups will line up starting at 5 p.m. on Penn Street, Peter Street and Gallatin Avenue. The parade will start on Gallatin, turning west on Main Street and ending on North Mt. Vernon Avenue at Stockton. Judging will take place near the chamber office, with signs along the route advising participants of when they are entering the judging area.

Pre-registration is required for individuals to be eligible for the prizes and for groups to participate. Individuals may preregister and pick up their judging numbers at the chamber office from noon until 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28. Groups may also pick up their registration numbers at that time or may get them during the parade line up starting at 5 p.m.

There will be assigned spaces for buses for groups. Further details are available by contacting the chamber office at info@fayettechamber.com or by calling 724-437-4571.
