Kolencik said the Jones was flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., where he remained on Thursday.

Police scoured the area for suspects in the area of Coolspring and Mifflin streets and canvased for forensic evidence following the shooting, which occurred just after 8 p.m.

Kolencik said bullet struck the car’s trunk and passenger side and the rear window was shattered.

The shooting occurred less than 48 hours after Vernon Pratt, 29, of Uniontown was shot three times while walking near Grant Street Park.

Officer Jason Fidazzo said police were called to a location on Farragut Street for a report of shots fired at 11:09 p.m. and found Pratt bleeding from his back.

He was taken by Fayette EMS to Uniontown Hospital and then flown by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.

Fidazzo said that Pratt was shot in the back and twice in the buttocks.

Two residences on South Grant and a car parked on Farragut were also struck by gunfire, Fidazzo said.

Police said both shootings remain under investigation.
