Charles H. ‘Buck’ Baer

Charles H. ‘Buck’ Baer, age 75 of Ralph, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born February 27, 1938 in Palmer, son of the late Charles Norman Baer and Mildred Brooks Baer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and Lee Baer; his sister, Doris ‘Tootie’ Baer and his son-in-law Edward Ripko.

Buck was a former member of Holy Rosary R. C. Church of Republic and St. Alberts R. C. Church of Adah. He was a retired coal miner at Maple Creek and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Navy. He was a very proud and cherished member of the Adah Volunteer Fire Department.

He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 20 Uniontown, American Legion No. 590 Republic, the former V.F.W. Post No. 47 and the Palmer Pioneers.

He cherished his grandkids, was a Steeler fan and Pirates fan, especially this year. He loved working the Republic and Adah Cash Bashes, going on Wheeling trips and his military reunions.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Shirley Pahula Baer; two sons and two daughters, Theodore ‘Teddy’ Baer and wife Beth of Smithton, Theresa Ripko of Gibsonia, Sharlene Otto and husband Louis ‘Duke’ of Adah and Michael Baer and wife, Connie of Richmond Hill, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Louis ‘L.C.’ Otto, Tyler Ripko, Breanna Otto, Ryan Baer, Eric Baer, Emily Baer and Lillian Baer; brothers and sisters: George Baer of Maple Heights, Ohio, Harry Baer of Uniontown, Pearl ‘Stella’ Pavina of Tower Hill I and Karen Colinet of Adah; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 9 to 11 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. James Petrovsky officiating.

Adah Volunteer Fire Department, Station No. 1 will conduct a firemen’s service Friday evening at 8:30 p.m.

General George C. Marshal AMVETS Post 103 Hopwood will conduct military services Saturday morning at the funeral home.
