Donald Paul Matthews Sr.
Donald Paul Matthews Sr., age 84, of Lemont Furnace, Pa., passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born Sunday, August 25, 1929 in Mount Independence, Pa. son of William Carroll Matthews and Grace Ethel (Baker) Matthews.
‘Don’ was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He retired from United States Steel Corporation’s Duquesne Works.
He was a Life Member of North Union Volunteer Fire Department.
He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Donald P. Matthews Jr.; and two brothers, Robert Matthews and Clarence Matthews.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Alverta (Scott) Matthews; one son, Curtis K. Matthews Sr. of Lemont Furnace; his daughter-in-law, Anita Matthews, Phillips, Pa.; two grandchildren: Michelle M. Miller and her husband Randy of Uniontown and Curtis Matthews Jr. and wife Stephanie of Lemont Furnace; great grand children: Paige Miller and Morgan Matthews; a sister, Geraldine Tansy of Michigan; brothers: Orville Matthews and his wife Jean of Maryland and Kenneth Matthews and his wife Eleanor of Lemont Furnace.
Friends will be received in DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, Pa., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m
Visitation will continue Wednesday, September 4 in CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 308 McClellandtown Road, Uniontown, from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with Pastor Joe Ritz officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
