A Uniontown woman has been hospitalized after police say they found her living in deplorable conditions inside her home in Uniontown on Friday.

Uniontown police Chief Jason A. Cox said he responded to 436 Evans St. home to check on the welfare of the woman living there at the request of Uniontown code enforcement officer Scott Chapple.

Chapple told police that multiple complaints were filed regarding the residence for an abundance of trash.

Lt. Thomas Kolencik said that the woman refused to open the door more than an inch or two to speak with Cox and that Cox could see “trash piled extremely high” inside the home, coupled with the smell of feces and urine.
