Ray O’Neil Shaffer, 80 of Brownfield, Pa. died Wednesday September 4, 2013 in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born July 16, 1933 in Uniontown, Pa.

Preceding him in death were his parents Harry Shaffer and Anna Glover Shaffer, his wife Peggy Walters Shaffer, a daughter Kathy Shaffer Saynes, five brothers, Henry, Ralph, Robert, Eugene and Lewis and two sisters, Anna Mary Pantalo and Betty Varndell.

Ray attended the Brownfield United Methodist Church and was a former Uniontown city employee and later worked for the Uniontown Herald Standard.

Surviving are two children, Sheila Nicklow and husband Rick and Ray O. Shaffer, Jr. and girlfriend Louise Locke, all of Uniontown; grand children: Dennis Saynes, Jr. and wife Erica, Jule Saynes and wife Julie, Ricky Nicklow and wife Amanda, Ray Shaffer, III, Jessica Cumberland and husband Matt and Steven Witteman; two great-grandchildren and a sister Ruth Rudinsky of Hopwood, Pa.

Friends will be received in the SHELL FUNERAL HOME, INC. 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave. Uniontown, PA on Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Lesher officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery will be private.
