LUZERNE TWP. — Supervisors have given their nod of approval for E.A. Walters Architecture and Design to serve as the engineer for a project at Patsy Hillman Park.

Park board members also are required to obtain approval from Brownsville Council, according to assistant treasurer Tanya Capuzzi. E.A. Walters Architecture and Design in Uniontown is in the process of completing the design for the project, which will include concession stand renovations and bathrooms. Electricity, water lines and flooring would be replaced in the concession stand, and a new sidewalk would be installed.

The park board is aiming to have the work completed before the park reopens next spring. Supervisors said they were pleased to see the project moving forward. In other matters, the supervisors announced its recycle dropoff for the township will be Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Wharton Township Municipal building.

“Anybody that has items they’d like to get rid of like TVs, radios can drop them off,” Capuzzi said.

The supervisors also announced the next New East Coast XC race will be held Oct. 20 at the park.
