Michael E. Chomiak
Michael E. Chomiak, age 84, of Republic, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at home.
He was born March 18, 1929 in Filbert, the son of the late Peter Chomiak and Rose Miskiewicz Chomiak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Mary Chomiak, Violet Carlisle, Ben Chomiak, Pete Chomiak Jr., Esther Bosich, Joseph Chomiak, Catherine Chomiak and Josephine Chomiak.
Mike is a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church of New Salem.
He was a retired welder for U.S. Steel at the Irvin Works, a member of the USWA and an avid golfer who loved the beach, especially Ocean City, Md.
He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine Fratrich Chomiak, with whom he had sixty-one years of marriage; his devoted daughter, Millissa Chomiak of Republic; a brother, Edward Chomiak of Gates Mills, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Woo and her husband, Albert, of Solon, Ohio; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem today (Thursday) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and until 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 when brief prayers will be said in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church (Footedale site) with Monsignor J. Edward McCullough as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.
Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
