For Nicole Traficante of Uniontown, event planning has been a lifelong passion.

“I grew up with planning parties,” she said.

So it seemed like a logical step for her to work in the wedding industry when she moved to Las Vegas.

“It (Las Vegas) is the wedding capital of the world,” she said. “I got a job at the bridal store (Tux One and Bridal Galleria), and I was able to shadow all different wedding businesses. Once I did that, I really enjoyed it, and I saw what a need there is for it.”

It was during her employment at Tux One in 2010 that Traficante was on the TLC show “Happily Married Faster.”

Upon returning to her hometown, Traficante saw a need in the local wedding market.

About a year and a half ago, she decided to open Simply Sweet Candy Buffet, a custom candy buffet company that offers different party experiences such as candy lounges, dessert buffets, custom treat bags and welcome or thank-you baskets.

“Moving back here, I saw a need for it in my town,” she said. “A lot of stuff is outdated here.”

After being booked every weekend since opening, Traficante decided to expand her business, open a storefront and offer a wide variety of products.

“We are doing gifts, jewelry and little kids’ stuff,” she said.

The Simply Sweet Shoppe is located in Storey Square in downtown Uniontown.

“I absolutely love Storey Square. I think it is really unique, and it gives you a big city feel,” said Traficante. “Everything is top of the line, beautiful wood, everything was just beautiful, and we made it work. We didn’t even look at any other buildings downtown.”

Traficante said she is aiming to have the grand opening of her business on Sept. 28 and is looking forward to offering her clients a relaxing shopping experience where she has something for everyone.
