Fayette fairgrounds named as site if new prison constructed
The prison working group announced this morning that if the Fayette County Commissioners approve the construction of a new lockup, it will be located at the Fayette County Fairgrounds.
If that occurs, the prison will not interfere with the use of the fairgrounds, officials said.
The fairgrounds is made up of 70 acres of property, and the county would use an estimated 30 acres if they move forward with the construction, officials said.
