Anna Ruth Smith
Anna Ruth Smith, 92, of Masontown, Pa., passed away September 18, 2013 at Cloverdale Personal Care Home, Masontown, Pa. with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. on February 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Harry W. and Bertha E. (Myers) Shaffer.
She was a graduate of German Township High School, Class of 1939. She retired from Second National Bank where she was employed for many years as a teller.
Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Masontown where she served on both The Session and The Board of Trustees. She was also a member of the Women’s Association; was Vice President and served as Treasurer for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas F. Smith in 1946, sisters: Sarah Morgando and Jean Barber and brother, Blaine Shaffer.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Gary L. Smith and wife Gerty of Smithfield, Pa.; Brian T. Smith and Maureen of Florida; grandchildren: Gary W. Smith and wife Kristen of Smithfield, Melissa Smith, Ryan T. Smith and Marlayna Smith; great grandson: Kingston Thomas Jennings, all of Florida; sister: Betty Watkins of California; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Cloverdale Personal Care Home and Amedisys Hospice for the care and compassion given to Ruth.
Family and Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH, JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Ave., Masontown, PA on Friday, September 20, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, Masontown, PA from 1 until 2 p.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Forest Lee McDermott officiating.
Interment at McClell-andtown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, McClellandtown, PA.
