Connellsville man killed after being struck by car

State police are investigating after a Connellsville man was struck and killed by a vehicle after attempting to get up off the road in Connellsville Township after he fell off his bicycle late Thursday.

Fayette County Deputy Coroner Jessie Camilli said she pronounced John Henry Pletcher, 57, dead at the scene at 11:50 p.m. on Route 119.

According to Camilli, Pletcher was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee around 11:19 p.m.

Officials said the sport utility vehicle was operated by Jason Gamble, 35, of Grapeville.

Gamble was not injured as a result of the accident.

Camilli said that the cause of death remains pending further investigation.
