A Fayette County man who police allege had sex with a minor in the back of an ice cream truck in August accepted a tentative plea deal this afternoon that will put him behind bars for at least 3 ½ years.

Ronald Burwell III, 27, of Smithfield was charged Sept. 5 with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of a minor.

After multiple conversations between Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Meghann Mikluscak, public defender Susan Ritz-Harper, police and Burwell, prosecutors withdrew the involuntary deviate sexual intercourse charge and Burwell waived the remaining counts to Fayette County Court during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
