Richard E. Evans

Richard E. Evans, 59, of Dunbar, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013. He was born November 14, 1953 in Connellsville, a son of the late Harry D. and Evelyn B. (Mason) Evans.

He was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1972 and was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Foreman in the Precast Dept. with Shockey Brothers, Winchester, Va. After, he was a volunteer with Winchester Rehab Center where he was named a Winchester Star Volunteer of the year. He later worked at the facility part-time.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge, The VFW, American Legion and was a lifetime member of the National Parks and Recreation. He was an avid Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. He loved to fish, hike, listen to music and take scenic drives.

He is survived by his wife, and lifetime companion, Karen Stafford Evans; his loving dog, Jack; brother: Lawrence D. Evans of Arizona; sisters: JoAnn Shallenberger and husband, Sam of Connellsville, Patricia Evans of Uniontown, Margaret Baumann and husband, Donald of Connellsville; and also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Evans and brother, Vincent Evans.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, Pa.
