Wharton Township supervisors discuss improvements to garage
WHARTON TWP. — Supervisors voted to advertise for bids for the floor of the township garage during the regular meeting on Monday.
Vice Chairman Jack Lewis said an addition was built onto the garage about five years ago, but a floor was never installed.
Once a cement floor is installed, the addition will be used to park equipment.
In another matter, Supervisor Joe Henning made a motion to seek quotes for installing air conditioning in the meeting room at the municipal building.
Henning said it would be nice to have the room air-conditioned as the hearing board and planning commission also hold regular meetings there.
Additionally, Henning expressed concern for poll workers who would be in the room all day during the election.
Supervisors also voted to enter into a road maintenance agreement with Dominion.
Henning said the gas company will be using “a tenth of Shepherd Road” to get to certain gas wells.
In other business, Lewis took a moment to clarify the monthly agenda, which includes two opportunities for public comment.
The public may comment on only agenda items after the reading of the previous month’s minutes. Then, after the agenda items have been read, the public has an opportunity to comment on anything.
“That’s what the three of us are here for. Our solicitor is also here for legal advice,” Lewis said. “If anyone has questions, we’ll be glad to answer them.”
Meanwhile, Henning made a motion to update the township’s directory map. It was last updated in 2007.
The next regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 21.
