The Fayette County sheriff’s office issues between 10 and 20 gun permits daily during the county’s criminal court week session. Sheriff Gary Brownfield said that about 1,600 and 1,800 people come through the door of the courthouse daily during court week, compared with between 900 to 1,100 on other days.

County treasurer Nancy Wilson said her office tends to issue more dog licenses but is seeing cutbacks in hunting and fishing licenses, which excludes doe licenses. It is also the only office in the county where small games of chance applications are available.

Incorrect information about the number of permits and types of licenses was listed in an article published Sunday. The Herald-Standard apologizes for the errors.
