South Union woman charged in fatal crash
A South Union Township woman has been charged with homicide by vehicle stemming from a fatal crash in 2012.
State police said Roxanne M. Wolfe, 18, of McClellandtown was killed early Aug. 13, 2012, when the vehicle she was a passenger in overturned in German Township.
State police Trooper Robert Broadwater said Wolfe was pronounced dead at Uniontown Hospital following the crash, which occurred on Route 166.
Broadwater said the crash occurred around 1 a.m. when a 1998 Jeep Cherokee driven by Lindsey Skocik, 18, allegedly struck an embankment near Jim King Road, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Skocik was charged with homicide by vehicle and various related traffic charges when she was arraigned Wednesday by Fayette County Magisterial District Judge Randy Abraham. Her bond was $50,000 unsecured. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a later date.
Police said Skocik suffered serious injuries in the accident and was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for treatment.
A third passenger in the vehicle — Steven Edward Hawk, 18, of McClellandtown — suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital, Broadwater said.
Broadwater noted that none of the motorists was wearing seat belts.
