M/Sgt. USAF (Retired) Richard L. Johnston Sr.

Master Sergeant USAF (Retired) Richard L. ‘Dick’ Johnston Sr., age 78, Lemont Furnace, Pa. passed away Tuesday evening, April 22, 2014 in his home.

He was born in Donora Pa., September 24, 1935 the son of the late Bert Johnston and Gladys (Sarver) Johnston

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas Johnston and Bert Johnston.

He was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.

He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force serving during Vietnam in 1964 and 1965.

He retired from Arnold’s Appliance, working there for over 30 years.

He was an avid golfer and member of Fayette Senior Golf League.

He coached and also umpired for many years for the R. W. Clark Baseball League.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Janet (Conroy) Johnston; loving children: James R. Johnston and his wife Pamela of Smock, Pa., Richard L. Johnston Jr. and his wife Barbara of Uniontown, Pa., Susan M. Leisher and her husband William of Maryland and Daniel L. Johnston of Lemont Furnace, Pa.; loving grandchildren: M i r a n d a Johnston, Arianaa Collins and her husband Adam, Joshua Johnston and his wife Kaylee, Jacob Johnston and wife Mary, Stephanie Orgovan, J e s s i c a Orgovan, J u s t i n a Thomson and husband JT, William Leisher II, Samantha Leisher, Brianna Johnston, Olivia Johnston; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Shirley McDonald and husband Howard of Phoenix, Arizona and E l a i n e Flemming of Donora, Pa.; many nieces and nephews, other relatives; many friends.

Friends will be received in KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning until 9:30 a.m. when Parting Prayers will be said.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in the Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson Street, with Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston as Celebrant.

Interment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery

Military Honors will be accorded at graveside.
