Elwood Lee “Jake” Brinker

Elwood Lee ‘Jake’ Brinker of Connellsville, Pa., servant of Jesus Christ, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his residence after fighting a battle with cancer.

His soul is resting and his new body he will receive.

Elwood Lee was born Sunday, July 26, 1942 in Normalville, Pa., the son of Woodrow Brinker and Bertha Johnson Brinker.

Elwood worked for many years as a Roofer.

He also enjoyed working for Bill Springer Construction and helping Bill on his farm.

Prior to his retirement, he worked several years with Babcock Lumber.

He enjoyed serving God, playing gospel music, and making people laugh.

Elwood was the beloved husband of Mary (Henry) Grimm Brinker.

He is also survived Mary’s son, Matt Grimm; grandson, Austin Grimm; church grandchildren: Kelsey, Trisha, Jennifer, Alisa, Alexander and Jeremiah; his own children: Michael and his wife Leila, David, Samuel, Angel, Elwood and his fiancée Laura, Crystal and her husband Nathan; special daughter, Megan Grimm; his very caring brothers-in-law: Don Henry and Chuck Henry; his siblings: Ruby Levendosky, Roberta Trump, Regina Pritts, Anna and Rita Smith, and Arnold Brinker and wife Mary; special nephew and his buddy, Gerald McCoy; grandchildren: V i r g i n i a, Chris and Corey, K r i s t e n and Maddie Brinker, Kyle Wickem, Issac, Ian and Madaleigh Landen, and Alayna Snyder.

Family and Friends were received Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the SUREHOUSE OF JESUS CHRIST, 911 Breakneck Road, Connellsville, Pa., where a Funeral Service will be held today (Monday, April 28, 2014) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Stewart and Pastor Leslie Fuller (of Solid Rock Church, McClellandtown, Pa.) officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mount Tabor Cemetery, Champion, Pa.

Very special thank you to Amedisys Hospice of Scottdale, Pa., and to family and church friends for their prayers and acts of kindness, especially Trisha who called daily asking “How’s Pap”? and his sister Ruby was always there to help in any way.

Memorial donations in lieu of any other gifts may be made in memory of Elwood Lee ‘Jake’ Brinker to Surehouse of Jesus Christ to be used towards the purchase of a church van.
